The
first word that comes to your mind when you think of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is – Love. Every DDLJ fan hopes to find
his Simran or her Raj someday. Dilwale
Dulhania Le Jayenge has been ruling the big screen for almost two decades. As
the film is about to complete 1000 weeks in theatres, here’s a look at the top
10 scenes from DDLJ:
Scene 01 – When Simran confides to Laajo
Simran,
the free spirited girl speaks her heart out to her mother Farida Jalal (Laajo)
about the man she dreams of as her ‘Mr. Perfect’.
Scene 02 – The beginning of an epic love
story where Simran meets Raj
The chemistry
between the couple is electrifying when Simran and Raj meet for the first time
at London's railway station. Who can forget the moment in the movie when Raj extends
his hand to her and then begins their journey full of love.
Scene 03 - And the Tom & Jerry game between
between Raj and Simran
To
get one up on Raj, Simran announces that Raj is a professional pianist and what
follows is history. LMAO, literally!
Scene 04 – Raj, ‘The Knight in shining
Armour’ for Simran
“Paagalon,
paagalon, kameeno!” does this ring a bell? This happens when Raj comes to
Simran’s rescue from the European police when she lost her passport. The scene
is iconic for Shah Rukh’s quick humor.
Scene 05 – When lovers part!
“Palat...
Palat” well, it made many of us skip a heartbeat. Once Raj said that line, not
only he but we were also curious to see whether Simran would turn around or
not. And when she finally did, we all sighed a sigh of relief.
Scene 06 – When the lovers reunited
Switzerland
definitely witnessed a hike in the sales of cow bells. The mustard field, a cow
with a belt and Raj- Simran hugging is an ultimate romantic moment.
Scene 07 - Chaudhary Baldev Singh, Raj and
the pigeons / A cute way to woo your father-in-law
In
order to break the ice with Simran’s father, Raj wakes up in the morning and
goes to feed the pigeons.
Scene 08 - The Karwachauth scene
Probably
post this scene every husband learnt the art of fasting for their wives on
Karwachauth. Raj actually made husbands fasting for their wives a statement.
Scene 09 – And Simran ran to unite with the
love of her life
Where
Simran’s father finally tells her to live her life – Jaa Simran Jaa, ji le apni zindagi. Just before the train
chase, the moment Amrish Puri lets her hand lose, we were literally on the edge
of our seats. This nail-biting sequence had us completely bowled over.
Scene 10 – Dilwala Raj takes his Dulhania
Simran away!
Love
is all you need and it always finds a way. The dramatic climax of this film
fits right with these proverbs. The train sequence that makes all our hearts
race and throb is considered as the most epic scene in the history of Indian
Cinema. When Simran makes it to the train and falls into Raj’s arms, the world,
all of a sudden, seems all perfect to us.
