Titli has its own unique voice

Kanu Behl, growing up in a film-television centric family, quickly developed a liking for non generic films. So when the time came, Behl did the logical thing and followed his passion for film making.

Behl states that the idea of “Titli” originated from his personal experiences, the clash of ideology with his father leading to a rebellious phase in his life. With only good words to say on behalf of his co-writer SharatKataria, Behl says that he got to learn a lot from Sharat and that he has a tremendous sense of character and a sense of serendipity.

The idea behind “Titli” was to make a film that did not feel enacted and came off spontaneously. “Titli” starringRanvirShorey, Amit Sial and Shashank Arora was made innovatively with the actors given the freedom they needed to enact their part.Kanu and his DOP Siddharth danced around them to capture the shots.

With the movie premiering at the Un Certain Regard section in Cannes, to his father acting in the movie, “Titli” has been a very personal experience for Kanu. The screenplay for the same had started way back in 2007 when Kanu had pitched the idea of “Titli” to Dibakar.

A lot of blood and sweat has gone into the making of the movie. With Yash Raj Films on board and Dibakar Banerjee giving the final push, “Titli” finally has the credibility it needs to hit it big!
